Memorial candle

  • Doreen MacLean lit a candle on 03/26/2009:
"I am going to miss you so much Mom. I can't believe that I will never talk to you again. You were the best Mom - you always supported me in whatever I chose to do even though some of those decisions broke your heart like when i moved away. Each one of us children had a special relationship with you and you made us all feel like we were the favorite. You raised 5 beautiful children and gave us all the values we need to succeed in life. We will be okay. I Love you Mom. "

  • Erin MacLean lit a candle on 03/31/2009:
"Grandmother, I am really going to miss you, I have so many memories of you. I really wish that you would have had a chance to get to know Samantha and the new baby so that they could have such wonderful memories of you as well. I Love you and Miss you"

About her

Elizabeth MacDonald

Elizabeth MacDonald

Born: July 30th, 1944

Passed on: March 19th, 2009

Elizabeth was born to Hazel & Emerson Hardy on July 30, 1944 in Elmsdale, PEI. Loving Mother to Beverley (John); Jamie (Joanne); Doreen (Jim); David (Carla); and Heather. Cherished Grandmother to Peter, Erin, Andrew, Ryan, Nicole, Colton, Brayden. Adoring Great Grandmother to Samantha.  She had 10 brothers and sisters: Vernon, Cleve, Muriel, Allison, Christine, Nadine,  Dorothy, Mabel,  Eldon, and Fred.

Mom loved her family most, but also had a great love of music and gardening. Her most prized posession was the piano that we all gathered around on saturday nights. It originally came to her via the Turner family. It was one of the last pianos made by the Huntington Piano Company in Connecuit, USA.

In September, 2005 She was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. We thought she was very fragile and would not last long but she surprised us all. She fought this dreadful disease with everything she had and fought it right until the end. She had three rounds of chemo, 2 "strokes\' and a heart attack. She fought back from all those but sadly the cancer won and on March 19, 2009 she passed away at the Palliative Care Unit in O\'Leary Community Hospital.

Her funeral was held on Sunday March 22, 2009 from Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel.

Rev. Robert Lockhart officiated.

Honorary Pallbearers: Lindy & Audrey MacDonald; Warren & Bernice Leard; Eugene & Doris Leard\' Roland & Margaret Cook; Gordon MacDonald; Carol Harris; Harry Lecky; Leta MacDonald; Thelma MacDonald; Alton Silliker; Bernard Greenan; Karen Cook; Faye McInnis.

Flowerbearers: Daughter-in-Law Carla MacDonald; Grandchildren Erin MacLean & Ryan Veno

Elizabeth was carried to her final resting place by her Children - Beverley, Jamie, Doreen,  David and her Son-in-Law John  and her Grandson Andrew.

Gone is a mother loved by all,
Her soul is now at rest.
She\'ll sleep at peace, her work is done.
A mother\'s work---the best.
Our hearts may grieve that she must lie
Beneath the sacred sod,
And yet we know she lives in peace
Within the house of God.

We Love You Mom!
