Memorial candle

  • Doreen MacLean lit a candle on 03/26/2009:
"I am going to miss you so much Mom. I can't believe that I will never talk to you again. You were the best Mom - you always supported me in whatever I chose to do even though some of those decisions broke your heart like when i moved away. Each one of us children had a special relationship with you and you made us all feel like we were the favorite. You raised 5 beautiful children and gave us all the values we need to succeed in life. We will be okay. I Love you Mom. "

"Grandmother, I am really going to miss you, I have so many memories of you. I really wish that you would have had a chance to get to know Samantha and the new baby so that they could have such wonderful memories of you as well. I Love you and Miss you"

About Elizabeth MacDonald

Mom was the best. She was a great Mother - Many times she did without so that her children had what they wanted.  She worked hard to provide a good home for us all. Many times she would come home from work and then spend all evening making pickles or apple sauce. She would put up around 100 bottles of pickles, beets and chow every fall.

She was a great believer in family togetherness and looked forward to those weekends when we were all together. She had a great love of music and looked forward to Saturday nights when everyone would gather around the piano with their guitars and play music and sing till the sun came up. Sometimes the house would be so full of people you couldn\'t get through. She had a special group of friends that she played music with over the years - Leta Macdonald, Harry Lecky, Owen Macdonald, Leta MacNaught, Eltie, Bill Cook, and many more. David taught himself to play guitar and Mom loved to listen to him play - she especially loved the way he played The Rose. It was one of her favorite pieces. Later on Bev, Heather and Doreen learned to play guitar. We would all get together at Moms and play, with Mom on piano and sometimes she would play guitar as well. She would say " come on now and play - we\'re making memories". I am so glad for those memories now. We will miss her terribly - the music will never be the same again.
